Elay Plastic has been manufacturing and supplying plastic planting bags for nurseries for more than 20 years. Our seedling and nursery grow bags are used for germination, young plants, saplings and trees that remain in the bag for long periods, often outdoors and under strong sunlight. Depending on the country, the same product is also called nursery polybags, poly planting bags or polythene planting bags.
We only supply bags made from 100% virgin plastic. Bags manufactured from recycled material tend to break down rapidly in harsh climates, while virgin material helps the bag keep its strength for longer. All our seedling bags are produced as UV-resistant.
Custom Seedling Bag Options
Seedling bags can be manufactured in any size, from small bags for germination and cuttings to large bags for saplings and trees. Drainage hole configuration can be changed on request for suitable volumes, and thicker bags can be produced on request, subject to order volume.
All bags over 40 L are produced at 200 micron thickness because of their volume, weight and the length of time plants and trees remain in the bags.
Performance Characteristics for Nursery Use
100% virgin material: Virgin plastic gives the bag a longer service life than recycled material, which tends to break down rapidly in harsh climates.
UV resistance: All seedling bags are produced as UV-resistant for outdoor nursery conditions and long growing periods.
Drainage: Drainage hole configuration can be adapted to the plant, growing medium and irrigation practice, on suitable volumes.
Thickness for large bags: Bags over 40 L are produced at 200 micron to carry the weight of the soil and plant over long periods.
Any size: Bag dimensions can be manufactured according to the plant type and the size of the sapling or tree.

There is no single seedling bag specification suitable for every nursery. Plant type, growing period, bag volume, drainage and handling all affect the most suitable bag. With more than 20 years of experience in sapling bag production, we produce bags in the form, size and features you require and deliver them within the time you need. Share the required dimensions or volume, thickness, drainage preference and order quantity so that the most suitable configuration can be evaluated.
Large-volume orders are part of our daily work. For example, we produced and shipped 1,850,000 UV-stabilized 15 × 18 cm, 90 micron seedling bags with drainage holes for a cocoa and coffee development project in Kenema, Sierra Leone, from film production to palletizing and container loading.
