Standard Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers are developed for the handling, storage and transport of non-dangerous solid products in powder, granular or paste form. The bag must be specified around the packed product, its bulk density, the required safe working load, handling equipment and transport conditions.
Common constructions include circular, U-panel and four-panel bodies. Coated or uncoated fabric, one-, two- or four-loop lifting systems, filling spouts, open tops, flat bottoms and discharge spouts can be selected according to the operation. An inner liner may be added when additional containment or barrier performance is required.
Standard FIBC Construction Options
The correct FIBC is not selected by capacity alone. Dimensions must suit both the product bulk density and the available filling, lifting, palletizing, storage and discharge equipment. Fabric weight, coating, seam construction, lifting loops, top and bottom design, printing and document pockets are defined in the approved specification.
For non-dangerous goods, ISO 21898:2024 specifies materials, construction, design, type-testing and marking requirements and also provides guidance on selection and safe use. Conformity applies to the tested and documented bag specification; it should not be assumed from appearance alone.
Information Needed for a Reliable Specification
Provide the product name, bulk density, particle characteristics, target net weight, filling temperature, moisture sensitivity and any dust or electrostatic concerns. We also need the filling method, discharge method, lifting arrangement, pallet or container dimensions, stacking requirements, storage conditions and applicable documentation.
The safe working load and safety factor must be confirmed for the selected construction and supported by the relevant test documentation. Never exceed the handling instructions and limits stated on the FIBC label.
Custom Production and International Orders
Each FIBC is produced to an approved application-specific specification. Minimum order quantity varies by bag type and construction. Production lead time and container-loading options depend on the product, order quantity and delivery plan for the international shipment.
Related options: compare Q bags and baffle FIBCs, review custom inner liners, or define filling and discharge configurations.
